One committee is chosen every month to be ‘the committee of the month’. In this column we tell about the activities and/or goals of one of the many committees of Semper Florens. This month, the ProdukCie.

The merchandise committee of Semper Florens is called the ProdukCie. They design the famous and yearly SF sweater, to help us through the cold winter days. After a night in the Woeste Hoeve you always see a lot of plantlets wearing the sweater, because it is their favorite ‘hung-over’ sweater. All gadgets made by the ProdukCie are essential for us as Plant Science students. Last year they made beer-openers, which were directly put into use at the SF barbecue! They also made a very cute mug with the slogan “What do plants do when other plants feel sad? Photosympathize” so we can sustainably maintain of caffeine levels. A T-shirt with the slogan “Any plan(t)s tonight?” was also produced, which may or may not get some plantlets together?

The ProdukCie is the committee of the month March, because they designed beautiful socks. Lots of plantlets have ordered them, and now we all have to wait in excitement for the moment they arrive, so keep an eye on your mail!

The AXI is the activity committee of Semper Florens and has the important task of creating fun activities that bring our Plantlets together and create memories that we will remember for the rest of our lives. The AXI is the committee of the month January because the famous New Year’s Diner takes place in January. The New Year’s diner has several special traditions, which you will only experience if you dare to attend! This year the New Year’s Diner will take place in the International Club, and it promises to become a great evening!

Besides the NY Diner, the AXI organises the KI on Thursday the 23th of January. KI stands for Klein Integratiefeest (Small Integration Party). This party is organised together with other study associations such as Heeren XVII, Veetelers and Di-Et-Tri. Meeting nice people and drinking some beers are the best ingredients for a fantastic evening, which will hopefully lead to some interesting stories for the coffee break of the next day. The theme of this year is a Pajama Party, so don’t forget to bring your fanciest pajamas with you to Wageningen next week. We hope to see you on there!

The ExcurCie organizes a study-related excursion to a company in the agricultural sector. These excursions are very diverse to give you a look on the whole agricultural sector. The previous excursion was to Inotec, a seed enhancement specialist. Inotec works with seeds for field crops and vegetables. During this excursion we got to take a peek into their company, and look for ourselves how they worked.

The ExcurCie is the committee of the month, because on the 25th of February the next excursion will take place! This time we will go to Schoneveld Breeding. Schoneveld Breeding creates strong varieties flowering pot plants with high ornamental value and long flower life. Each series has a number of constant unique characteristics, such as suitability for indoor or outdoor use or for a specific climate. During the visit to Schoneveld Breeding, their cell biologist and head breeder will tell everything about the company about both genetics and agriculture. This excursion is free of costs, and you can still subscribe on the site​!

The ConsumpCie is our newest committee, that is working very hard to become an official Committee of Semper Florens. Last year they organised a sandwich lunch and a waffle lunch, which were both very delicious. Besides that they wrote 2 recipes for the Internodium. The first one was all about porridge and the second about summer salad. The goal of the committee is to improve the integration between members of Semper Florens, while having fun with making food. This college year there was a second waffle lunch, exclusively for First Years, which was a success, and dessert for the InternationalCie diner was made. You will probably eat some cookies or pie that will be made by the ConsumpCie upcoming year!

The ConsumpCie is the committee of the month, because at the General Meeting upcoming Wednesday (the 2nd of October) they will finally become official! In the lunch break of the same day, they will also organise a Pasta Salad Lunch. Hopefully we will see you there!
