On the 24th of September, the ExcurCie of Semper Florens held an excursion to the Floriade Expo in Almere. This activity was made possible by the generous contributions of late honorary member Jan Smeding and his family. Nearly 100 students of our bachelor and master programmes were ably to join the trip. The Floriade horticultural exposition is organised every ten years in a different Dutch city. This year it was hosted in Almere. After a long drive we arrived at the expo where we were free to explore the 60-hectare terrain. Even though there was more than enough to explore, our students spend most of their time in and around the greenhouse. The day was filled with admiring the beautiful plants, trying food from various destinations and learning about new horticultural technologies. Another popular parts of the expo were the cable carts, where we were able to view almost the entire park from an eagles point of view. Over all it was a great experience for all of us!
